Leah Temple Makes it Official, Files in Senate District 30 Race

DFL-endorsed candidate is making first run for state office

Leah Temple, the DFL-endorsed candidate for Minnesota Senate in District 30, made it official, filing on May 19, 2026 to officially run for the Legislature.

“It’s my honor to be the endorsed candidate for Senate,” Temple said. “I’m really excited, and I’m ready to serve the people of District 30.”

Temple, 31, is a software developer and certified doula. She lives in Elk River with her husband, Ryan, and their two children. In her first run for public office, she said her experience in building systems and assisting Minnesota families and parents has motivated her to serve in a new way.

“I think people are most concerned about those kitchen table issues, not the issues that make all of the social media sound bites. They want to be able to feed and take care of their families and give them a better life,” she said. “District 30 is changing, growing and it’s exciting. It’s a great place to live and work. All of the people deserve representation in our Legislature, and I want to be that person for them.”

Temple will square off against incumbent Sen. Eric Lucero, who is seeking his second term as the Senator in District 30. Lucero was a Minnesota House member from 2015-2022.
