Travelers who frequent County Highway 39 should be aware of a road closure beginning today between Highway 19 and Odean Ave. in Otsego. Crews are repairing a deteriorated culvert just west of Nashua Ave.
A detour will reroute travelers off CH 39 on either Highway 19 or Odean Ave., depending on the direction of travel, and then along 70th Street (Highway 38). Residents whose homes are located on CH 39 in the work zone will be allowed to access their homes, but there is a hard closure with no vehicles allowed at the location of the culvert repair. The county anticipates the project to wrap up 7-10 days from now, depending on weather.
Rumble Strip Project Ending Tomorrow
Another project affecting the local area should wrap up tomorrow. Wright County received an $84,000 federal grant to create centerline rumble strips on the county’s Highways 34 from Hanover to Buffalo, 35 from St. Michael to Buffalo and 37 from Albertville to Maple Lake. These roads have traffic volumes between 4,000-7,000 vehicles per day. Studies have estimated that centerline rumble strips can reduce sideswipe and fatal crashes by 70 percent on rural highways.
Local drivers have not seen detours for this project, though there have been some minor delays due to the flagging operation around the moving work zone.
