Summer’s big celebration comes to its riverside home in Hanover this weekend.
Hanover Harvest Festival arrives Saturday, Aug. 5 as we continue the next decade of celebration, including a parade, the coronation of Miss Hanover and the annual kids fun run.
Here’s a look at all of the things to see and do at this year’s events.
Saturday Morning
Kick off the day with the annual Harvest Festival 5K race, which is open now to registration. Sign-ups will also be taken the day of the race, with the starting gun sounding at 8 a.m. For details on the course, including a map, and where the race starts, check out the 5K Race section of the website here.
Also Saturday morning, in conjunction with the 5K is the annual Hanover Harvest Festival Fun Run. the 13th Annual Kids Fun Run starts at 9:30am on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Located on the grass area next to Bankwest (just east of the light at C.R. 19 and 20) on River Road.
Everyone loves a parade, and the HHF Parade kicks off at 11 a.m. Floats will line up at the Industrial Park around 10 a.m. (a registration form can be found on the HHF site) and the route will follow along Meander, 8th Street, Riverview Road (the longest stretch) and Church Street before ending near the intersection of County roads 19 and 20 at BankWest.
The HHF Car Show, sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts, will be held in the Hanover Elementary parking lot off of County Road 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will also feature a special awards presentation at 2 p.m. Awards will include Best of Show, Best Exhibit and Fop Five prizes for Antique/Classic cars and trucks.
Saturday Afternoon
The day will include a visit from the Memorial Blood Mobile, a KRWC Road Show broadcast, demonstrations in Settlers Park and the lawn tractor pull.
One of the afternoon’s highlights is the sixth annual Miss Hanover Coronation program. The four candidates for Miss Hanover and Hanover Princess will take the stage at 3 p.m. on the main stage at Settlers Park.
Saturday Night in the Park
Music takes over the main stage from 7:30 to 11:30 with regional favorite Diamond Back heading up the music. He’ll take a break in time for the “Belle of the Ball” with the Saturday night fireworks show, which will start shortly before 10 p.m. Backroad Kickers will open the show from 6:30 to 7:30
After the fireworks, Diamond Back will bring the festival to a close, along with the annual raffle.
The day also includes plenty of food, a marketplace area, activities in the park and special promotions from area businesses around Hanover.
