Road work is beginning this week on Minnesota Highway 25 through the city of Buffalo, creating some traffic headaches in the Wright County Seat.
A few detours will be in place.
Highway 25 Downtown Reconstruction – 2nd St. South to Highway 55
This project includes the complete reconstruction of underground utilities, street surfacing, curb and gutter, sidewalks, traffic signals and street lights from Second Street South (located adjacent to the recently constructed “Downtown Commons” area) to the south side of Trunk Highway 55. A roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of 8th Street and Trunk Highway 25 (by Perkins and Holiday Gas).
The Project is scheduled to begin construction in Spring 2015 with substantial completion anticipated by late Fall 2015. Detours for Trunk Highway 25 are anticipated for early spring to late to late Fall 2015.
Settlers Parkway New Roadway and Highway 25 Roundabout at Settlers Parkway
This project includes the construction of a new east-west roadway called Settlers Parkway on the south side of Buffalo connecting Trunk Highway 25 and Trunk Highway 55. The new roadway will connect to Trunk Highway 55 at the existing traffic signal by Target and will connect to Trunk Highway 25 near the Buffalo Heights Golf Course and Lakeview Cemetery. A new roundabout will be constructed on Trunk Highway 25 at this new intersection.
The new roadway construction began in Fall of 2014. The Trunk Highway 25 roundabout construction, remaining construction on Settlers Parkway and turn lane construction on Trunk Highway 55 will occur beginning in the Spring of 2015. A detour for Trunk Highway 25 is anticipated for April thru June of 2015.
Highway 25 Reconstruction – Highway 55 to Catlin Street including the Highway 25 and 55 Intersection
This project includes widening Trunk Highway 25 to a four-lane roadway between Trunk Highway 55 and 15th Street NW before tapering back to two lanes at Catlin Street. The intersection of Trunk Highway 25 and 55 will be reconstructed to accommodate dual left turn lanes on each approaching roadway and a permanent traffic signal will be installed. A traffic signal will also be installed at 14th Street. The project is scheduled to begin construction in Spring 2016 with substantial completion by late Fall 2016. No detours are anticipated at this time.
