The Wright County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that a drug investigation involving 25C-NBOMe, a hallucinogenic distributed similarly to LSD, had led to multiple arrests in the Maple Lake area.
Four adults and two children were home at the time of the warrant. Deputies located a substance believed to be a synthetic hallucinogen called 25C-NBOMe in the basement of the home.
Ashley Mae Andrews, 22, Maple Lake and Shawn Tyler Benson, 19, Delano, were arrested for 1st degree sale of a controlled substance. Justin Michael Jensen 27, Maple Lake, also was arrested for 3rd degree possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment.
Two children, ages 3 and 1, were placed into protective custody.
According to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), 15C-NBOMe is known on the street as “N-Bomb,” or “Smiles.” The chemical complex can cause seizures, cardiac and respiratory arrest and death.
Consumed via powder or sheets laced with NBOMe show the substance can be taken orally or via inhalation. The DEA reports 19 deaths were linked to N-Bombs in a 17-month span between March 2012 and August 2013.
