The STMA Rotary Club and Shop STMA are pleased to announce that Paul Ederer has been named Cheermeister for 2016. Mr. Ederer will have the honor of lighting the tree during St. Michael’s 5th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration, 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 at St. Michael City Center, 11800 Town Center Drive NE, St. Michael.
Ederer can best be described as St. Michael’s real-life George Bailey. Recently retired as Executive Vice President of First American Bank, the longtime St. Michael resident has been a fixture in the STMA community for many years. He was one of the original incorporators of Great Northern Bank and served as the bank’s president, CEO and director prior to its merger with First American Bank. He is one of the founders of the St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club, and is a past president of the St. Michael Economic Development Authority. He also has been active in the Lions Club and other organizations. Ederer is currently a licensed agent for Commercial Realty Solutions and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of First American Bank.
This year’s tree lighting celebration will include performances by STMA High School’s Chamber Choir and Gold Jazz Band, a Santa Selfie Station, Ugly Sweater Contest, a children’s craft activity sponsored by St. Michael Women of Today, and a special holiday craft sale featuring the handiworks of Crow River Senior Center members. In addition, the Great River Regional Library will host a special performance by flute and cello musicians J2J and a make and take holiday ornament. Free sandwiches, chips, cookies, and beverages will be served while supplies last. The free event will include a toy and children’s book drive for the Hanover Area Food Shelf and bedding drive for Beds for Kids. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy or children’s book or new unwrapped twin-sized children’s bedding.
The event is sponsored by STMA Rotary and Shop STMA; additional sponsors/volunteers include Dunn Brothers Coffee, Coborn’s, the Marketplace, Dehmer’s, Hardware Hank, Friends of the Library, Albertville and St. Michael Royalty and Family Youth Community Connections (FYCC).
