When patients, friends, family and colleagues think of St. Michael mother and therapist Stephanie Drevlow O’Rourke, one of the first things often mentioned is her smile, and the way her spirit could suddenly fill a room.
When she was diagnosed late last month with acute myeloid leukemia, a blood cancer, that smile didn’t disappear. She shared it with well-wishers, her daughters in a memorable portrait, and hospital workers that began intense chemotherapy sessions.
Sadly, however, she slipped away. Stephanie died Monday, Aug. 10 at North Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends. Services for Stephanie, who lived in Hanover and worked at Solutions Counseling in St. Michael as an independent counselor, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Visitation will be set for 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Other arrangements, courtesy of Peterson Funeral Home in St. Michael, are pending.
Support Steph Event
Her family, friends, former boss and others are still planning to celebrate with a fundraiser the family had planned prior to Stephanie’s death, which came just 17 days after her diagnosis.
Sunday, August 30, 2015, a benefit to support Steph’s family will be held at Hanover City Hall and will include cocktails, dinner, raffle, games for the kids, and a silent auction. All proceeds from this event will go to pay for the unforeseen medical and funeral expenses, and to take care of her two beautiful daughters.
