The community of Monticello is mourning the loss of two key community members over the last two weeks.
Stump, who died Saturday, June 14, at the age of 73, was hugely active in the Monticello community. A Buffalo High graduate, Stumpf worked his way through the ranks at Ruff Autos, where he served as president until health forced him into retirement in 1997.
But it was his community service as both a firefighter and longtime member of the Monticello Planning Commission that made Chuck a local favorite. The fire department at Wright County Dispatch saluted him with a final sign-off call Thursday, June 19.
Services for Chuck Stumpf were held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A visitation and prayer service was also held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo is serving the family. Online condolences may be made to www.thepetersonchapel.com.
The community also lost Dorothy Nemec, mother of hospital board member Glen and wife of longtime community doctor George.
Though Dorothy and George had retired to the north woods of Wisconsin, the two were a big part of making Monticello a healthcare magnet community. The two celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year.
Dorothy Nemec, 85, died peacefully at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Buffalo, MN. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. A memorial Service was scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, June 20th, 2014, with a visitation at 2 p.m. at Word of Peace Church in Rogers.
