Retreat, Rejuvenate, and Heal

August 17, 2014 By jenderham

As I look forward to hosting our upcoming retreat in beautiful Sedona, I had the opportunity to speak with one of the expert guides at the Enchantment Resort and their onsite destination spa, Mi Amo. I had explored Sedona and Enchantment last January, but wanted to know more information about the stunning landscape that nestles itself around the natural beauty that only Enchantment has to offer.

Seekers come to these beautiful rock formations looking to explore or for healing, peace, rejuvenation, and renewal, There are several trailheads in Sedona that will lead you up to various rock formations and energy vortexes. Most require car rental and are beyond walking distance of most hotels and resorts. What makes Enchantment so special is that you do not need a car or guide to get to one. One only has to look around and start walking. It is right there at your doorstep. The Enchantment resort has its own stunning rock formations, Boynton Canyon. It is considered sacred land by the Hopi and Apache tribes. They believe this magnificent place is where their people were created and still return twice a year for ceremonies. The magnificent interplay of ultra vivid colors-the red rocks, deep blue sky, green vegetation, the juniper scented air, the feeling of warmth on your skin is a divine treat for the senses. It is easy to picture this place as a garden of creation, a place the breathes life.

The Boynton Canyon’s two main rock formations are referred to as Cocina Woman and appears to be a woman wearing a headdress. She is considered to be the keeper of the canyon. The second formation is referred to as the Kissing Rock. Both of these rock formations are said to be characterized by both male and female energies offering a uniquely balancing, and nurturing energy.
