It’s the official start to summer celebrations next month, as Albertville Friendly City Days kicks off Wednesday with a citywide garage sale for the ages, and wraps up Sunday afternoon with the Grand Day Parade and a host of other activities.
Discount ride tickets are now on sale at multiple Albertville vendors, including Coborn’s and DJ’s Ace Hardware.
Also coming June 11 through 15 is a full slate of entertainment for both Mom, Dad and the kids, more food than you can shake a stick at and a bunch of citywide shopping deals away from the main venue to keep everyone happy.
Other events this year include Classic Car Show, the Mega Jump BMX Show, Crazy Cute Pet Costume Contest, REMAX Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides, Wright County Canine Demo, Central Lakes Search & Rescue, and a Historical Display at City Hall.
The week will also have live music featuring Country, Rock n Roll, Bluegrass and Old Time.
For the kids there will be a Carnival, lots of shows and activities, a parade, and, of course, fireworks. No great weekend is complete without food. There will be plenty to choose from including all that fabulous fair food and various specials from the spots on Main Avenue.

Family Activities
Midwest Rides will bring in over 30 Carnival rides and games starting Thursday afternoon. Saturday will be filled with entertainment for the including a Kiddie Parade, a Pedal Tractor Pull, Face painting, Root beer floats with the Queen candidates, a kids entertainer, and the KRWC Radio Road Show.
Sport Activities
A beanbag tournament will take place near the softball fields, starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. The diamonds will be packed with the huge Men’s Slowpitch Softball Tournament featuring some of the state’s top teams. There will also be Co-Ed, Mens, and Women’s Volleyball Tournaments featuring the areas top teams. Saturday the annual 5K run will attract over 250 participants of all ages. And this will be the first ever year for the AFCD Soccer Tournament, hosted by STMA United at the Middle School East Fields in St. Michael, with tournament headquarters at the soccer offices on Main in Albertville.
Food and Entertainment
There will be Fireworks, a Pork chop dinner and corn on the cob in the park, as well as a Spaghetti Dinner, and plenty of food stands. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening there will be live music. NEW on Thursday,there will be a new Craft Beer Sampling at 6 p.m., featuring 10 craft beers from the Minnesota region.
AFD Marks 75 Years
The Albertville Fire Department will be celebrating 75 years of public service this year! Saturday from 9:00 to noon the Fire Department hosts an open house featuring their entire department on display along with plenty of activities for the whole family. Come help them celebrate their 75th Anniversary! Check out the Kitchen Fire Safety trailer, donate at the blood mobile, and the kids will be able to spray a fire hose at a house. Be sure to watch for the North Memorial Air Care helicopter around noon.
