The St. Michael-Albertville community is mourning the loss of a husband, father and community member this week as Abraham “Abe” Benson, 43, of Albertville has been identified as the driver killed in a Monday evening accident in Albertville.
Benson died after a medical emergency forced him to lose control of his vehicle and race down 57th Street in Albertville before crashing into the home of Don Deckert and his family on Monday, April 1. No one else was injured in the accident.

Benson honorably served his Country in The United States Army. On October 11, 1997, he was joined in holy marriage to Holly A. Dissell in Red Wing, Minnesota. God blessed their marriage with two children, Tristan and Chloe. He was employed as a Field Operations Supervisor at The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District. Abe was an FAA licensed drone pilot and an active swim dad. He enjoyed studying history; cooking, and being a wine connoisseur. He belonged to Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, the St. Michael Lions Club, and to Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers. Abe was fond of duck hunting, ice fishing, Vikings football and attending U of M Gopher Wrestling with his dad.
Abee Benson is Survived by his loving wife: Holly; son: Tristan; daughter: Chloe; mother: Susan K. Lindberg of Brooklyn Park; father: David J. Benson of Minneapolis; brother: Erick R. (Erin) Benson of Juneau, Alaska; parents-in-law: Robert and Shirley Dissell of Red Wing; and many loving relatives and friends. Preceded in death by Curt Lindberg. Funeral service Friday, April 5th, 2019 11:00 A.M. Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers. Visitation at the church Friday, April 5th from 10 to 11 a.m.
