Raise your hand if either you or someone you know could describe their weight loss as a history of yo-yo dieting!
When I talk with my clients before they choose to start a weight loss program, so many of them talk about wanting to lose weight and keep it off. They are tired of the yo yo cycle that has become a part of their lives
There are really 2 main reasons people yo yo. One is lack of education. But the other has to do with motivation, characterized by this statement “Pain pushes until desire pulls”. In other words, people focus on what they DON’T want, instead of focusing on what they DO want. When we focus on what we don’t want, once we lose a few pounds, and feel a little better, motivation decreases, and the bad habits start sneaking back in. The key is to imagine what you really want your life your life to look like. Imagine how you will feel, what you will be able to do that might be impossible or difficult now, how you will look, how others will react to you, and how your improved health will affect those you love. CREATE that picture in your mind, and focus on moving towards it.
