Two people were killed and another driver was critically injured after a head-on collision Sunday in Monticello Township, west of Monticello.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sunday, September 14, at approximately 5:17 p.m .the county communications center received a report of a multiple vehicle accident with injuries on Wright County Road 39 and 107th Street Northeast in Monticello Township, near Lake Ida.
Sheriff’s Deputies along with Monticello Fire/Rescue and CentraCare EMS were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival it was found that a Chrysler 300 and Ford Super Duty pickup, pulling a horse trailer, had collided head-on in the curve at 107th St NE on Co Rd 39. The driver of the Chrysler, Christopher Hazel, 37 of Annandale, and his passenger, Donna Swenson, 65 of Annandale, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Ford truck, Andra Olson age 48 of Monticello, was extricated from her vehicle and was transported by North Air to North Memorial Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
