It’s official, Kelly Perkins Robinson is a television star.
Oh, yeah. Her sister fared pretty well, too.
Robinson accompanied her sister, Kat Perkins, to the blind auditions of “The Voice” in Los Angeles late last fall. Perkins, a well-known musician in the Twin Cities and beyond, impressed producers and got a shot at a spot as one of 48 team members. She made the cut when rocker Adam Levine, singer/dancer Shakira and soulful Usher all turned their chairs during her audition song.
Kat picked Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks’ “Gold Dust Woman” as her 2-minute song. She was almost speechless as Blake Shelton, country star and six-season member of “The Voice,” ran her through the evaluation process.
“She really liked Blake and Adam, so that’s who she really wanted to work with,” Robinson said of her sister in an interview with NWCToday last week. “She’s happy.”
Viewers will now get to watch Perkins battle it out in the “knock-out” rounds over the next few episodes, once the four coaches’ teams are complete. Then, if she makes it, she’ll participate in the live shows later this spring.
“It’d be great to go back. I’d definitely go with her again,” Robinson, who lives in The Highlands with her husband and three children, said. “Everyone down there was so amazing. The coaches are very sweet and Carson [Daly] is just awesome. It’s just an amazing thing for her and her career.”
