SOAR Arts Group – a collaboration of volunteers and students from around St. Michael, Otsego, Albertville and Rogers (and beyond) will begin its three-day run of “Shrek Jr.: The Musical” tonight at the St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West auditorium.
Tickets for the Thursday (tonight’s) opener, which starts at 7 p.m., are on sale now at SOARArts.com or at the door. Concessions and collectibles will be available at the show, as well.
‘Shrek Jr.’ follows a cranky ogre on his voyage from his swamp-made home to the land of Duloc, where he is given a mission by Lord Farquad. Along the way, Shrek meets Donkey and challenges a dragon as he tries to save Fiona, a long-lost princess.
The story explores love, loneliness and letting your “Freak Flag Fly” along the way.
The production will continue Saturday with shows at 2 p.m. at 7 p.m., and again with shows on Sunday at 2 and 6 p.m., all at STMA West.
This is SOAR’s latest spring installment, following on the heels of such productions as “The Little Mermaid” and the “Lion King.”
The group also has a Teen organization, as well as a summer program.
