The weather outside may be frightful, but the atmosphere inside Middle School West’s auditorium last Thursday evening could quickly warm a person up from the inside out. St. Michael-Albertville’s Ogni Voce Unified Choir gave a performance of the latest popular pop songs, sung by current and former special education students from around the area, Special Olympics stars ranging in age from 8-60+ years old, and a large showing of STMA choir students without disabilities who wanted to join in the inclusive singing event. Ogni Voce means “every voice” in Italian.
Aimee Libby, the Head of Delegation for the STMA Stallions Special Olympics team, said the Stallions joined forces with STMA teachers and choir directors with a heart for inclusion to put on this community concert. The Ogni Voce concert was not a school-sponsored event, so all staff involved were volunteering their time toward the cause of giving all people the chance to sing and perform.
