The Albertville Crossing development has suffered another business loss, with Artisan Salon and Spa suddenly closing its doors Monday, Dec. 5 after more than 12 years in business.
The strip mall, located just west of Coborn’s off of Labeaux Avenue in Albertville, has seen plenty of comings and goings with Goin’ Postal, dance studios, cell phone centers and others opening and closing over the past couple of years. New ownership has sought to steady the shopping area, which includes successful sites such as Willy McCoy’s and Sherwin Williams Paints.
Artisan had been a rock steady site throughout the last decade, despite the lights going on and off around the salon. Owner Jennifer Munson employed more than a dozen stylists (part and full time staff) when she made the announcement Monday, via social media, that the store was closing for good, calling it a “very difficult decision” that came up quickly.
“I’m very sorry it had to come to this,” she wrote.
Many patrons were concerned about future appointments, favorite stylists employed at the Artisan Salon and, with the holiday approaching, gift certificates that had been purchased and now cannot be honored by the store. Munson said she’s working diligently with other shops around St. Michael-Albertville to honor those certificates and will continue to update on the salon’s Facebook page.
Munson had become active in local groups over the past two years, serving as a volunteer for FYCC and becoming a part of Shop STMA, a local merchants’ association that promotes local businesses.
