Donald Anton Soderlund, Jr, 72, of St. Michael, died on October 17, 2016 at his home on the shores of his beloved Pelican Lake after a five year struggle with congestive heart failure.
He was born the son of Donald and Anna (Anderson) Soderlund on January 22, 1944 in Chicago, whom both preceded him in death.
Don worked as a wildlife artist, picture framer, Hardware Hank clerk, and antique dealer. His gift for gab resulted in making many dear friends along the way. His many interests included duck hunting and fishing, World War II, wildlife art, and sharing hunting stories and videos with anyone that would listen, sometimes over and over. He was an avid reader of history and waterfowling literature. Don had a passion for collecting which included Mason duck decoys and Creek Chub fishing lures among his favorites. Don loved his Lord and his family deeply. He enjoyed watching his “boys” compete in sporting activities. He was so proud of each of them and was always quick to brag and pull out the most recent photos.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Laurie: sons, Donnie III (Diane) of Aberdeen, SD and Joe of Monticello; his three grandchildren, Donnie IV, Drake, and Dane; his brother, Keith (Lori) of Corcoran; one niece, two nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
Don will be dearly remembered, missed and loved forever.
Visitation was Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 4:30-5:30 with the funeral service at 5:30 and dinner and reflections following.
