It’s a rematch for Albertville mayor in this November’s election, as Brad Cedergren has filed to challenge current Mayor Jillian Hendrickson for the city’s top seat.
There will be at least one new member of the Albertville City Council, as longtime city servant Larry Sorensen did not file for re-election. City council will see incumbent John Vetsch battle three challengers. Paul Turpin will take his second shot at Albertville City Council after losing out in 2014. The two other candidates are Jeremy Dominick and Aaron Cocking.
Albertville has a couple of issues on its plate that will be at the centerpiece of the election discussion. First, the city is working with the STMA School District on both the discussion of school district boundaries (particularly the boundary with ISD 728 – Elk River Area Schools) and the current hockey arena, which supporters say is in need of expansion and renovation.
North Wright County Today will have a series of “Question and Answer” articles on all three races pertinent to the community – St. Michael City Council/Mayor; STMA School District; and Albertville City Council/Mayor coming up in late October.
