Installation of nearly four-and-a-half miles of cable median barrier and guardrail along Minnesota Highway 101 between Wright County Road 36 at the Crow River and Highway 10 at the Mississippi River in Otsego begins Thursday, August 25.
During the work, motorists will encounter alternating lane and shoulder closures in each direction between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Installation of the new barrier will be completed by late September.
Minnesota records approximately 15 fatal cross-median crashes each year on four-lane divided highways, according to crash statistics compiled by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
Concern about the severity and continued occurrence of those crashes has prompted MnDOT to install protective barriers in the median in areas prone to these types of crashes.
