April snow can cause a special kind of mess, and a weather system swooping through the Twin Cities’ northern half did just that in the midst of the Friday morning commute.
Snow and a strong wind caused icy conditions, and a massive collision was the result on westbound Interstate 94, normally the side for lighter traffic during the morning commute.
Photos submitted by fellow drivers and via traffic cameras showed at least five vehicles damaged on westbound 94 near the County 144 overpass. A couple had airbags deployed.
Traffic was clogged at Rogers’ Highway 101 for much of the morning.
On the bright side: Sunday’s high temperature is forecast at 55 degrees.
