Current Rep. Eric Lucero faced a challenger for the second straight election cycle since earning his House District 30B seat, and emerged again with the Republican endorsement as he begins his 2016 campaign.
Lucero was victorious over former St. Michael-Albertville School Board member Jeanne Holland, who took her first shot at public office since leaving the board in 2015. The current GOP House member took 86 percent of the vote at the Wright County GOP endorsement convention.
“I’m humbled and honored to have won the Republican endorsement for re-election to the state House.” Lucero said. “I am grateful for the strong turnout from delegates all across our community and for the strong vote of trust and confidence for me. I look forward to continuing to work hard fighting for the values of our great community including pro-life, pro-family, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-tax cuts, pro-education, pro-roads and bridges transportation, pro-individual liberty, pro-free market, and pro-Constitution.”
House District 30B encompasses Hanover, St. Michael, Albertville, Otsego and Dayton – all within Wright County’s borders. Lucero, who served on the Dayton City Council in the earlier part of the decade, was elected to the House in 2014, defeating incumbent David FitzSimmons at the endorsement convention and former St. Michael city council member Kevin Kasel in the GOP primary.
