A ribbon cutting will go up and traffic barricades will come down as another one of the summer’s pivotal construction projects comes to a close this week in Otsego.
The Otsego City Council, Mayor Jessica Stockamp and dignitaries from Wright County will join workers and engineers who guided the County Road 37/70 Street project through this summer’s construction for a ribbon cutting today, Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Roundabout at 70th Street/Oakwood Drive/County Road 37.
The project included new pavement for existing County Road 37, as well as an extension of 70th Street eastward to meet with the county road where it runs from running east/west to a north/south stretch before heading west again to Albertville.
The roundabout was installed first, set to control traffic that is attempting to get on the busy county highway from 70th street and the new developments west of the existing road via 70th Street.
Project manager Brent Larson said the road itself will be completely opened by next week, with County Road 37 opening later this week to through traffic and 70th Street Northeast opened (via the roundabout) prior to Halloween.
Wright County will continue work on County Highway 37 to the Minnesota Highway 101 interchange next construction season.
