Another Level III sex offender is moving to Wright County’s Maple Lake community, according to an advisory released by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, Oct. 6.
James Anthony Sandberg, formerly of Buffalo, has been arrested twice and convicted on separate counts of criminal sexual conduct. Once for an incident with a minor in the winter of 2001, and again for drugging and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2007.
The 32-year-old Sandberg has been living in Monticello Township since his March 2014 release, in a home off of County Road 37 that has been designated as a rental property for former offenders.
He now intends to move to rural Maple Lake, where he will remain under county supervision. The new residence is along 40th Street Northwest.
Sandberg is a Level III sex offender, which means he’s the most likely to re-offend in the eyes of the state criminal system. He must register as a sex offender and keep officials advised to his whereabouts. He is assigned a supervising officer from the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
Sandberg, it should be pointed out, is not wanted by the police at this time and has served the sentence imposed on him/her by the court. This notification is not intended to increase fear in the community. Law enforcement believes that an informed public is a safer public. Any questions should be directed to the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
The county also notified the pubic that Sheen Jamale Newton, 25, formerly of southwestern Minnesota and also a Level III sex offender, is moving to the Maple Lake area as well. That notice was issued on Sept. 30.
