A Wednesday morning crash on Twin Lakes Road sent one teen-age driver to the hospital and killed a 20-year-old man as two trucks collided head-on shortly after 5:30 a.m.
Elk River Police identified the deceased driver as 20-year-old Jacob Walsh of Oak Grove. Walsh was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 16-year-old was airlifted by North Memorial Air Care and was in stable condition, according to Capt. Bob Kluntz of the Elk River Police Department.
Conditions were normal at the time of the crash. No witnesses saw the accident, which happened along a curve. Drivers from Cleveland Road came upon the accident during their morning commute.
Kuntz told the Minneapolis Star Tribune he believed the 16-year-old, who will not be identified due to his status as a minor, was from St. Michael.
Police closed the intersection of Cleveland and Twin Lakes Road was closed while authorities tried to determine the cause of the accident.
