The Friendly City Kickball League is an adult coed kickball league now entering year three of play. We have eight teams in our league and kickoff Tuesday nights down at Albertville’s Central Park at around 6:00pm.
We currently have a few teams that are looking for a player or two, if you’re interested in joining the fun, contact Mat Harrison (hey that’s me!).
We’ll try to post the results from our fun, competitive, but often hilarious league on NWCT. Here are the results from Week 1 of action:
The Alcoballics take down the MFers with a 4-3 victory in the season opener. The Alcoballics then sat in the bleachers, drank some beer for a while and lost $17.
Brews on First eeked out a 1-0 victory against the MFers at 6:50. The cardboard cutout of Charlie Hunham may need to play the field next week for the 0-2 MFers. Hunham was reportedly injured on the bench, suffering a misplaced cardboard hand.
The defending champs, Kickin’ it Old School defeated expansion club Ballz N Knockers by a score of 8-1 on the west field.
In a heated rivalry, Funk You Pitches knocked off the Grass Kickers by a score of 4-3, with the help of Albertville native Brent Funk cheating multiple times. If it’s in print, it has to be true.
The Grass Kickers were wounded from their early loss but came back with a fury of runs and an 8-0 win vs. Ballz N Knockers.
In the nightcap, a rematch of the 2014 championship saw a similar result as Kickin’ it Old School climbed to the top of the standings with a 1-0 win against the Funk You Pitches, although a rare strikeout was recorded by Pitches’ pitcher and Otsego-native Carrie Gardner.
