Alleluia Lutheran Church is hosting its annual Bounce for Haiti event at the St. Michael City Center tonight, Thursday, in order to raise funds for its latest mission trip to the impoverished country.
The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. at city hall.
Here’s the announcement from ALC:
Alleluia Lutheran Church of St. Michael is excited for their sixth team of 14 passionate individuals to travel to Haitithis August on a short term mission trip through Healing Haiti, a faith-based 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving the poor, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged. We believe each one of us have been put on earth for a unique God given purpose and that we all have been blessed with spiritual gifts along with time, talent and treasures that can, if we let them, flow through us to others. Haiti is a country only 90 minutes away and considered One of the Americas—and yet the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Extreme poverty, corruption, and poor access to education for much of the population are among Haiti’s most serious disadvantages.
While in Haiti our team will be serving in the following ways:
- Delivering clean water to families living in Cite Soleil, the largest and poorest slum in the western hemisphere.
- Spending time at orphanages, including some for the sick and dying babies and children with special needs.
- Distributing needed food and water to some of the elderly living in tent cities.
- Bringing needed supplies to orphanages, schools and tent cities.
The Alleluia Haiti Mission Team is putting together a “Bounce for Haiti – Family Fun Night, Raffle and Silent Auction”on Thursday, June 18th from 4-8pm at the St. Michael City Hall to help raise money for the work they will do while in Haiti. Cost of the event is $5/child for unlimited bouncing in inflatable rides for all ages, $1 tickets to purchase for food concessions, carnival games and activities. There will also be a Raffle for a four pack of TWINS Champion Club Tickets (valued at $800) along with many wonderful Silent Auction items to bid on.
