St. Michael-Albertville knocked down school records and stepped up to the state podium in several races as they took part in the Class AA swim meet last weekend at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
The Knights swim and dive season ended on a high noteĀ Saturday, finishing in ninth overall place at the Minnesota AA State Meet, a school record.
Leading the way was senior Grant Moser, who stood on the podium for both of his individual events, finishing in sixth place in the 100 (meter) fly and seventh place in the 200 free. S
Sophomore Max Lezer put up solid times with his fifth place finishes in both the 200 individual medley and the 500 free.
The 400 free relay of Will Gallagher, Lezer, Ryan Everly, and Moser finished eighth in the state, racing in the finals heat against powerhouse teams from Eagan, Minnetonka and Eden Prairie. The 200 free relay of Gallagher, Lezer, Mike Schoenke, and Moser sprinted to a 13th place finish.
In the deep end of the pool – diver Hanos Mahari placed 30th in the preliminary diving competition.
Five school records were broken at the state meet. Moser and Lezer set new school records in each of their individual events. The 400 free relay team also set a new school record in the preliminary event on Friday.
