The I-94 improvement project between Rogers and St. Michael will begin to ramp up today, Monday, March 9 as weather continues to improve and bend toward spring here in the Twin Cities Metro.
The roadwork means workers and equipment will be present, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation will have an active work zone again. While most of the initial work will take place off the roadway, drivers may see some brief shoulder or lane closures during non-rush hours, MnDOT warns.
Stay tuned to local media outlets, including North Wright County Today, for any closures or limits.
MnDOT states that, as spring progresses, lanes will narrow, lane closures will become more frequent, temporary ramps with lowered speed limits and different turning movements will open, and all four lanes of I-94 will switch to the current eastbound side of the road while the westbound side is reconstructed.
As always – slow down through the work zone, keep a sharp eye out for heavy equipment, workers and slow moving traffic, and be prepared for changing road conditions.
