One of St. Michael’s own is making national headlines for her column on vaccines and the thought each parent should put into the decision to issuing the medicine to children.
Samara Postuma, mother of three and step-mom to two addition kids, weighed in on vaccinations late last month via her online column at StarTribune.com. Vaccinations, she wrote, weren’t something she took lightly, but something she did for her children and, just as importantly, for the children around her own kids.
The column came in light of a measles outbreak in California, which doctors are attributing to lower vaccination rates indicated over the last five years. Measles cases have also been reported closer to home, including at the University of Minnesota.
Postuma weighed in today on “NewsNation” with Tamron Hall, MSNBC personality, as Congressional leaders today were updated on the vaccine debate.
