Despite the cold weather last week a few unlucky residents around Wright County were still subjected to an even worse fate – a daytime break-in at their home.
Reports of burglaries were filed at residences in both St. Michael and Albertville last week, with a brief chase ensuing last Thursday for a suspect in an Albertville neighborhood. No word on if that suspect was apprehended.
Today, Monday, Jan. 19, the sheriff’s office released a statement on behalf of Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty.
“On January 15, 2015, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate burglaries in the cities of St. Michael and Albertville. The Sheriff’s Office has reason to believe that both of these burglaries were committed by the same suspect(s). The Wright County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind residents to be watchful for unfamiliar people and/or vehicles parked in their neighborhoods. Oftentimes suspects will park in an area and watch for residents to leave their homes before attempting entry to their home or garage.
“The WCSO would also like to make residents aware of another tendency of burglary suspects. Suspects may knock on the door of a residence to see if the home is occupied. If you are not comfortable answering the knock of a stranger one possible option is to make enough noise in your home so the person outside knows someone is present.
These two burglaries are under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.”
