Throughout the spring and early summer of 2014, Minneapolis’ Kat Perkins, and, by association, her St. Michael-based sister Kelly Perkins Robison, soared to popularity with her run on NBC’s hit television/music crossover “The Voice.”
This spring, she’ll bring her new act to St. Michael-Albertville, headlining the annual “Knight to Remember” fundraiser for STMA Youth Hockey.
For Robinson and her husband, Bill, last year was a whirlwind. The couple has traveled in support of Kelly’s sister ever since her run to the top four of the television show, as Kat has parlayed her weeks of fame into months of new shows, an album that has been worthy of Grammy consideration and another trip to play for troops overseas.
The Robinsons said Kat knows a lot of her support came from her family and friends in St. Michael.
“She knew about the viewing parties and the support here and she was so thankful for that,” Kelly said. “It was so much fun to watch live, but it was fun to feel and see all the fans she made back here. So this is a chance for her to come and play for them and support the hockey association, too.”
Kat Perkins will rock the annual Knight to Remember event coming in March. Tickets are on sale now for association members, and to the public in 10 days.
Kat has close ties – her two nephews and niece, all Bill and Kelly’s kids, are all tied into the association.
Tickets for the event, which is set for 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, March 21, are available now via an Eventbrite page set up by the association. For now, sales are limited to members of the STMA Youth Hockey Association (including RiverHawks parents, of course), but will go on sale to the public on Jan. 16.
The show will be at the STMA Arena in Albertville, so space will be limited. Kat will play a set, sandwiched by two sets from local favorites Standing in Line.
“It’s always a great event,” Bill said of the Knight to Remember, “but we wanted to have more of a community focus to it this year, so when the sales open up to everyone we really hope to see a lot of local support. I think Kat will help us draw that in. She puts on a great show, and she made a lot of fans out here last year.”

The event is made possible by both STMA Youth Hockey and the Knight to Remember Committee. All proceeds will benefit the operations and planning costs for youth hockey – both facility rental and programs – for boys’ and girls’ hockey in STMA.
