The STMA Rotary Club and Shop Saint Michael announce Joe Dehmer has been named St. Michael’s Cheermeister for 2014. Mr. Dehmer will have the honor of lighting St. Michael’s Holiday Tree during the3nd Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration, 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at St. Michael City Center, 11800 Town Center Drive NE.
Dehmer joins past honorees Jim Pichler and a Elmer “Ike” and Carol Eichelberg as the Tree Lighting Cheermeister.
Well known in the community through his involvement in public service, as a small business owner and a charter member of the St. Michael Lions Club, the second generation owner of Dehmer’s Meats (he sold the business to his son several years ago) was selected as Cheermeister for exemplifying Rotary’s values of service above self.
This festive event will include performances by STMA High School’s Chamber Choir and Gold Jazz Band, free photos with Santa courtesy of Zahler Photography, a children’s craft activity sponsored by Family Youth Community Connections (FYCC), and a special holiday craft sale featuring the handiworks of Crow River Senior Center members. New this year: The Great River Regional Library is hosting a special holiday performance by Paul Imholte, who can play just about every stringed instrument imaginable. Free sandwiches, chips cookies, bars, and punch and coffee will be served while supplies last. The free event will include a toy and children’s book drive for the Hanover Area Food Shelf and Caring for Kids. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy or children’s book. The Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration is sponsored by STMA Rotary and Shop Saint Michael.
