By many witness accounts, Dr. Glen Pfister was like Wright County’s own version of “Patch Adams.”
The pediatrician and nine-year member of the Albertville-St. Michael, Buffalo and Monticello Clinics family was a father to twin boys, but spent his time away from the office “clowning around” with the Shrine Circus of Minnesota, often donning makeup as one of the cast’s many clowns.
Pfister died, unexpectedly, at the age of 57 on Sunday, Oct. 19. Funeral arrangements are pending.
The pediatrician worked mainly at the Buffalo and Monticello clinics. He joined the group in 2005 and was employed their, currently.
His clinic released this statement Tuesday, Oct. 21:
Glen Pfister, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014. “We are deeply saddened by Dr. Pfister’s death and the hearts and sympathies of our physicians and staff are with his family,” says John Hering, MD, president of Buffalo, Monticello and Albertville-St. Michael clinics. “Dr. Pfister dedicated his life to children, clowning for the Shrine Circus and entertaining kids in his practice and the community.”
The clinic is contacting Dr. Pfister’s patients to coordinate their care with the other pediatricians at Buffalo and Monticello clinics.
“Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of Dr. Pfister,” said Dr. Hering.
It’s the second tragic loss for the clinic community.
Obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Eric Lefebvre, also of Buffalo, was killed in a motorcycle accident back in July. Lefebvre delivered, literally, thousands of Wright County babies in the Buffalo and Monticello area, treating families from St. Michael and Albertville as well.
Funeral arrangements:
