Welcome back, football fans, to our North Wright County Today Football Challenge, brought to you by St. Michael-Albertville Football Academy, this week served up with some good, old-fashioned “trap games.”
A pair of local schools – St. Michael-Albertville and Rogers, hit the road this week for the other school’s big homecoming football game. Could this be the week one team, or both, get knocked off on the road to a conference championship tilt next month?
In the pros – Atlanta comes off a huge, blowout win over Tampa and hits the road to take on the Minnesota Vikings at TCF Bank Stadium. It’s, essentially, a must-win for the Vikes, who could fall to 1-3 with a loss (very few 1-3 teams have made the playoffs, percentage-wise).
Meanwhile, Green Bay is headed to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears, who have found a way to start 2-1 and could be 3-0 if not for an amazing Bills comeback in Week 1. Our other games feature AFC traditional powers Pitt and New England.
In college, it’s an all Big Ten week here. The Michigan Wolverines hope to “get healthy” against the Golden Gophers, who simply aren’t healthy at all. Illinois hopes to travel to Nebraska and play spoiler, while Wisconsin has a “trap” game of its own this week in Chicago, versus Northwestern.
Jana Kunz was our Week 3 winner, with zero picks wrong and a tie breaker of 48 points. She topped two people that also had perfect scores with the closest pick to the actual BLHS vs. STMA final.
Here’s the form for Week 4! Good luck.
Mike’s picks – Minnesota pulls off one of those home game upsets. The Bears hold serve at home. Pittsburgh continues Tampa’s slide. The Patriots find a way to knock off New England. The Gophers find a way, on the road to win in Michigan. Wisconsin and Nebraska both roll at home. Cambridge’s defense holds against Rogers for an upset win. St. Michael’s offense outlast Chisago. And Monticello wins on the road at Big Lake.
