Two sisters who were currently living on an otherwise quiet AlbertvilleĀ street shook up the neighborhood recently after they were arrested in early September on federal warrants issued by multiple agencies stemming from crimes in Massachusetts.
Nina Tischer, St. Michael and her sister, Nita Guzman, of Burlington, Mass., were both arrested in Wright County in early September after authorities in Massachusetts issued warrants for the two sisters’ arrests, according to court documents obtained by North Wright County Today.
The sisters were wanted for allegedly providing unlicensed mental health services in the commonwealth. Both women, 49, were providing psychological services in the Burlington area and had billed out more than $580,000 in services via state, federal and local agencies.
Through companies created by Tischer and Guzman, firms like Medicare, Medicaid, the UMass Medical School and Lawrence Public Schools were billed thousands of dollars, even though neither sister is licensed to provide mental health care.
The two then used a portion of that money to relocate, authorities believe, to Minnesota. The Associated Press reports that the sisters are to appear in local court here on Tuesday before the case advances.
The sisters’ lawyers did not appear listed in court documents. Neither could be reached by phone last week.
