St. Michael-Albertville High School kicked off a week of homecoming activities Monday night with the annual Coronation Ceremony, held at the STMA High School Performing Arts Center.
King and queen candidates were introduced at 7:30 with opening music from Jada Brown. High School student council members Willie Giller and McKenna Egbert then welcome everyone to the ceremony, followed by a musical performance from students Emma Barbln and Zach Kainz. Finally, a “Meet the Candidates” video, created by Jox Metcalf and the STMA “KBNG” staff, showed the lighter side of each of this year’s candidates.
Ultimately, 2013 Homecoming Queen Taylor Kainz did the honors, crowning Kate Drimel, daughter of Jeff and Karen Drimel, this year’s queen, while Jackson Greenwaldt, son of Rick and Kim, was this year’s homecoming king.
The court includes: Jed Irvine, son of Scott and Natalie; Tyler Hayes, sone of Jamie Hayes and Lisa Hayes Stich; Ryan Poss, son of Peter and Mary; Jacob Moran, son of Rodney and Theresa; Megan Doboszenski, daughter of Rob Doboszenski and Stacy Sharber; Olivia Yue, daughter of Jeff Yue and Angela Husom; Hannah Schutz, daughter of Brian and Charise; and Freya Hanson, daughter of Melissa and Brian Coons and Brian Hanson.
The event was followed by the 2nd annual Powder Puff Game, held at the football stadium at Middle School West.
Juniors and seniors were broken into four teams, and the best senior team (Team Pink) advanced to take on the best junior squad (Team Green).
