A pair of arrests have been made in connection to the strange disappearance of a Wright County man, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office announced late Thursday.
UPDATE (1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12)
On Wednesday, September 10th, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert Otis Nuttall, age 28 of Hutchinson, on kidnapping charges in connection with the disappearance of Christopher Rossing. On Friday, September 12th, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gwen Maria Butcher, age 32 of Hutchinson, on felony obstructing charges in connection with the disappearance of Christopher Rossing.
The investigation indicates that Christopher Rossing was involved in a physical altercation with Robert Nuttall at approximately 1:30am on Saturday, August 23th, along Highway 12 on the west side of the City of Howard Lake. Information also indicates that a full sized SUV may be involved in the case. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed this altercation or has information pertaining to the case to contact the Wright County Sheriff’s Office at 763-682-7637. The whereabouts of Christopher Rossing is unknown at this time. The investigation remains active
Christopher Rossing, 25, was last seen at Tourbles Bar in Howard Lake the night of Aug. 22.
Rossing hasn’t been found, and investigators are still following up on leads regarding the night Rossing disappeared, said Wright County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Todd Hoffman. Investigators, including Hoffman, declined to confirm whether or not Rossing was dead, Hoffman said, according to KARE 11 reports.
Rossing was reported missing in late August.
Rossing was expected to meet with friends in the Norwood-Young America area Friday night, but did not show up. Rossing normally frequents “hangouts” in that area, as well as Watertown, according to friends interviewed by the Sheriff’s Office Investigations.
It was later determined by investigators Rossing was in the Howard Lake area some time on Friday night after leaving work. Witnesses interviewed after Rossing went missing said he was last seen after closing time at Troubles Bar in Howard Lake.
They also said he was in a confrontation with a drunk male that was harassing a female patron in the bar, media reports indicate.
Search Continues
Rossing’s car was found several days after the initial publication of his status as missing with the windows down and keys inside. A Facebook page published by his family shows volunteers have been searching lakeshore, sloughs, woods and other areas around Howard Lake, which is southwest of Buffalo along Highway 12.
Volunteers were asked today, Sept. 12, to flyer areas outside of Howard Lake, around Wright County, in an effort to expand the search.
Residents were asked to search outbuildings and empty facilities if they had access to them.
Steven Matula, brother of Many Matula, is also assisting the group. Steven helped found Minnesota United when his sister was abducted and killed around the same time as two other Twin Cities area women suffered the same fate.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Rossing, who is of medium build, has dark hair and dark eyes, should contact the WCSO non-emergency line at 763-682-1162
