Talk about a bad day to have a disruption in service for Xcel Energy.
Thousands of customers in St. Michael, Hanover, Corcoran and Greenfield were without power after an outage that started shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, July 21.
The temperature at the time? A balmy 90 degrees with a heat index (what the air feels like with heat and humidity, according to the National Weather Service) of 101 degrees, making Monday the hottest day of 2014 so far.
The outage hit nearly 3,000 customers, and power was hoped to be restored before 5 p.m., according to spokesperson Patti Nystuen. A cause has not been determined as of 4 p.m. Monday.
