Before Janet Berning could turn around, Tohnya and Brian Adams were handing her what would be the highlight of her week.
In front of family, friends and Dob’s Auto customers who have supported the Berning family for more than six decades now, Janet and her son, Gordy Berning unwrapped a huge package from their neighbors (and friends) at InVision Glass.
Inside the box was a framed, glass poster, capturing just some of the highlights and history of the 60-year legacy started by the late Don Berning.
“This is terrific,” Janet said with a smile.
The Berning family spent much of Thursday and Friday laughing, sharing hands and swapping memories. Capt. Dan Anselment and even Sheriff Joe Hagerty stopped by for a visit. Other dignitaries also stopped in for a sandwich, soda or a story.
And as they used to say in the Crow River News – hey, former owners Carol and Don Larson were even on hand – “A good time was had by all.”
