Standout students at St. Michael-Albertville High School were given their moment to shine last night at the school’s Performing Arts Center, as the district held the 21st annual Academic and Leadership Awards Ceremony Wednesday, May 14.

The event, held with the support of the STMA High Student Council, recognizes school academic letter winners, national award winners, Merit Scholar Finalists, and the STMA Students of the Year for grades 9-12.

Student Council members for 2013-2014 were:
Freshmen: Dylan Brown, Ryan Copeland, Emily Duley, Cory Eull, Kali Johnson, Jackson Larson, Jacob Rankila and Tucker Richard.
Sophomores: McKenna Egbert, Kiana Eystad, Brianna Goodchild, Taylor Olson, Anastasia Pohl, Mckenna Rogers, Tess Slaen and Madeline Westendorp.
Juniors: Erin Buck, Amanda Dorholt, Rose Gallagher, William Giler, Emily Laudenbach, Hannah Schutz, Anna Skare and Gabrielle Vetsch.
Seniors: Rachel Bourget, Cody Goodchild, Tyler Jeffries, Taylor Kainz, Sean Kelly, Thomas Lindquist, Sydney Renzaglia and Chloe Wallace.
National Level Award winners for 2013-2014 were:
Momilani O’Sullivan – Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Leadership Conference: First place in Medical Reading category.
Larissa Bohler – “Letters About Literature” award winner.
Genevieve Vickers – National Council of Teachers of English: Achievement Award in Writing.
Sydney Giese – National Scholastic Art Gold Medal award winner.
Cody Goodchild, Jedadiah Rothstein and Brian Sukalaski – National Merit Finalists.
State Award winners were:
Brianna Bleess and Brian Sukalaski – MSHSL AAA Award
Local Top Award winners were:
BriAnna Hoffman, Quinn Maetzold, Jedediah Rothstein and Brian Sukalaski – STMA Academic Excellence Award.

In addition, there were 63 freshmen, 73 sophomores, 75 juniors and 105 seniors who earned Letters of Academic Excellence from the various departments at STMA High School.

Looking Ahead:
Scholarship winners from the graduating Class of 2014 will have their moment under the spotlight next week, as the Student Council and STMA High School staff, as well as dozens of community organizations such as the STMA Rotary, St. Michael and Albertville Lions Clubs, and many more host the Scholarship Awards Night. That’s set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 at the high school’s Performing Arts Center.
