A Monticello man who fled a “halfway” house near Highway 25 and was later discovered at a Wright County convenience store will get extended jail time, according to the latest sentencing information from Wright County District Court.
According to Attorney Tom Kelly’s office, Daniel Joseph Rossberg, 23, Monticello, wassentenced on April 30 for Probation Violations for Felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender to 18 months prison. Rossberg was also sentenced for Gross Misdemeanor Obstructing Legal Process to 365 days jail, concurrent; and sentenced for Felony Terroristic Threats to a stay of execution for five years on conditions of probation, serve 90 days jail, concurrent. Rossberg is to have no use or possession of alcohol or non-prescription drugs, submit to random testing, provide DNA sample, have no contact with victims, have no use or possession of firearms or dangerous weapons, have no same or similar violations. He was sentenced by Judge Steve Halsey.
Rossberg, who was staying at a supervised house in Monticello Township (about 8 miles west of Albertville), fled deputies checking on his whereabouts in October 2013. Rossberg is considered a Level III offender, according to the Minnesota Department of Corrections website. That means he is the most likely to re-offend.
Rossberg was orginally taken into custody in 2011 for an offense with a girl between the ages of 13-15. Now 23, he was 19 at the time of the crime for which he was convicted.

Cynthia Lynn Gebert, 36, of Maple Lake, sentenced April 29 for Felony Controlled Substance Crime in the Fifth Degree to a stay of imposition for five years on conditions of probation, serve 46 days jail, pay $100 fine plus surcharges, pay $75 public defender co-payment, obtain permission before leaving the state, undergo a chemical dependency assessment and follow all recommendations, have no use or possession of alcohol or non-prescription drugs, submit to random testing, provide DNA sample, have no use or possession of firearms or dangerous weapons, complete cognitive skill training, have no same or similar violations. Jessica Marie Gustafson, 33, Buffalo, sentenced April 24 for Misdemeanor Domestic Assault to 90 days jail, $50 fine; 88 days stayed for one year on conditions of probation, serve 2 days jail, pay $50 fine plus surcharges, have no use or possession of alcohol or non-prescription drugs, submit to random testing, remain medically compliant, undergo mental health treatment and follow all recommendations, have no same or similar violations. Terrence Markece Ivory, 24, of Otsego, on April 24 the charge of Gross Misdemeanor Domestic Assault was dismissed.
Cory Raymond Kalway, 44, of Monticello, sentenced May 1 for Probation Violations for Felony Controlled Substance Crime in the Fifth Degree to 3 days jail. Sentenced by Judge Halsey.
