The Historic St. Michael Corner Bar is, apparently, on the selling block.
A Craigslist listing filed last month shows the bar, which has been owned by the Braun family since 1993, up for sale.
The listing states the bar averages $30,000 per month in gross sales and takes in an additional $800 per month via pull tabs. The owners also rent out to apartment dwellers upstairs.
“The Corner” was established in 1897 and was nearly removed when the City of St. Michael planned and designed the new intersection at Wright County Roads 35 and 19 at the center of the community (Center and Main Avenues according to city addresses).
A groundswell of support for the historical significance of the building, along with some changes to the design of the intersection, helped save the structure, even as Walgreen’s planned its multi-million dollar store just to the south of the building.

North Wright County Today is confirming the listing with the owners and city staff.
Editor’s Note: This article has been corrected to indicated the Braun family as the owners of the bar. NWCToday regrets the error and any confusion it might have caused.
