Beginning today, Monday, Oct. 14, motorists should watch for nightly lane closures in both directions of I-94 between Monticello and Clearwater. Crews will build temporary lanes to prepare for the upcoming road resurfacing and widening of I-94 between Monticello and Clearwater. Here’s what to expect:
Wed, Oct. 14 through November
Watch for overnight lane closures on westbound I-94 between Hwy 25 in Monticello and Wright Co. Rd. 8 in Hasty.
The closures will occur intermittently from 5 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following day.
Watch for overnight lane closures on eastbound I-94 between Wright Co. Rd. 8 in Hasty and Hwy 25 in Monticello.
The closures will occur intermittently from 6 p.m. to noon the following day.
Note: Lane closure hours will vary depending upon day of week, weather and traffic volumes.
Motorists are advised to:
Follow posted speed limits; fines are up to $300 in work zones
Allow extra time for travel delays, especially during peak travel times
Please plan ahead and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
More about this project
MnDOT will improve 39-mile stretch of I-94 between Maple Grove and Clearwater, that includes more travel lanes, rebuilt bridges, improved drainage and the resurfacing of deteriorating pavement. Additionally, a new interchange is being constructed on I-94 near the city of Dayton. The improvements will reduce congestion, improve safety, improve freight movement, enhance economic vitality and provide a smoother ride for users of I-94. Work will take place between 2019 and 2021.
