Niche, a popular website that ranks best places to live, best places to work, and best K-12 schools and colleges, has placed the St. Michael-Albertville school district favorably in their newly released 2020 K-12 rankings.
The STMA school district placed in the number one spot for all five categories in Wright County, including Best School District, Safest School District, Best Teachers, Best Places to Teach, and Best School District for Athletes.
In the Best School District Category, STMA ranked 6th in Minnesota and 26th in the nation. Niche gave the district an overall A+ ranking based on academics, teachers, clubs & activities, diversity, college prep and health & safety. Superintendent Dr. Ann-Marie Foucault said only 2.5 percent of school districts nationwide received an A+ rating from Niche. Niche said they create their ratings through “rigorous analysis” of dozens of public data sets combined with over 100 million reviews and survey responses.
How Does STMA Compare?
In Minnesota, STMA’s number six ranking places it just under many of its new Lake Conference peers. Minnetonka earned the number one spot in the state, followed by fellow Lake Conference schools Wayzata, Eden Prairie and Edina for numbers two, three and four in the state. The other two conference schools, Hopkins and Buffalo, placed 13 and 26, respectively.
STMA’s geographically closest neighbors, besides Buffalo, include Monticello, which ranked 44th in the state, Elk River (which includes Otsego and Rogers) in 84th, and Osseo-Maple Grove in 94th.
Statewide, STMA ranked #2 for Best School Districts for Athletes, #7 for Districts with the Best Teachers, #10 for Best Places to Teach and #12 for Safest Schools in Minnesota.
Nationally, STMA ranked at number 322 out of over 10,000 school districts. They rank 26 in America in the Best School Districts for Athletes category, and 369 for Safest School Districts in America.
“It is very gratifying to see STMA ranked with top school districts in our county, state, and nation.” Foucault said. “I am extremely proud of our hardworking students and extraordinary staff and am grateful for the continued support and generosity from parents and the community.”
