Homeroom teachers at St. Michael-Albertville High School are always on the lookout for exceptional eleventh-grade students to recommend for STMA’s Rotary Student of the Month program. Local Rotarians select students each month of the school year who embody their motto of “service above self,” with the focus on students in their junior year so the honor can be included in college applications.
The local Rotary club has chosen to honor Gabby Olsen, Jordan Krupke and Wynter Johnson as their February Students of the Month.
Wynter Johnson
Wynter Johnson, daughter of Tracy Johnson & Bryan Johnson, participates in choir and hockey. She works at Main Street Farmer and BK Tap Haus and also babysits. Wynter would like to pursue a nursing degree at St. Cloud State University.
Jordan Krupke
Jordan Krupke is the son of Lance & Renee. Jordan is a three-sport athlete, participating in football, baseball, and basketball. He has lettered in weightlifting, baseball, and football. He was part of the state tournament qualifying football and baseball teams. Jordan is active in student council and works at the STMA Dome. He hopes to play baseball somewhere after graduation.
Gabby Olsen
Gabby Olsen, daughter of Gwen Olsen & Brian Olsen, is a Courtesy & Respect award winner, student of the year for 2018, and has received a Coach’s Award for lacrosse. In addition to participating in lacrosse, Gabby is the tennis team captain. She also partakes in NHS and Math League. Gabby would like to attend either the University of Minnesota or the University of Wisconsin-Madison to study pre-medicine.
“Rotary is very proud to recognize Gabby, Jordan and Wynter, as students of the month,” said Tracy Larson, STMA Rotary Club President. “They have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence and represent the ‘service above self’ ideals of Rotary. We wish them a successful future.”
