Prairie Run Cafe Calling it Quits

February 6, 2019 By Mike Schoemer

New owner Frank Thalacker has decided to pull the plug on an Albertville eatery.

Thalacker posted today on social media that Prairie Run Cafe, which had seen a revival in the last five years, was closing its doors.

“I’d hoped for a much different ending,” Thalacker wrote.

Prairie Run opened in summer of 2015 thanks to Minneapolis chef George Finn, who was looking to work “closer to home” when he bought theĀ old Patti J’s restaurant locale in July of that year. Finn, an accomplished chef with the Edina Cafe and The Republic, stepped away from the business last year with his wife, Jodi. Some of the staff stayed around, but Thalacker – a veteran of Minneapolis eateries himself – brought in new chef Dan Zimpel and decided to give it a go.

The closing went into effect late on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Thalacker posted a message thanking STMA for its support.
