In case you missed it, the St. Michael-Albertville Knights football team made some history Friday night in Edina.
In the largest Class 6A comeback in history, STMA scored 29 points in less than half of a quarter – the fourth quarter – and overcame a 28-0 deficit to defeat Edina High 29-28 in the Round of 16.
“Now I’ve seen everything,” said St. Michael-Albertville head coach Jared Essler, whose team gave up 21 points in less than two minutes last year in playoff action in Maple Grove to lose in the 2017 playoffs. “We were kind of a laughingstock after that. It’s good to make news for the right reasons.”
The comeback consisted of three DeSean Phillips touchdown runs, three onside kicks and a passing touchdown for the Knights.
