Minnesota State Patrol investigators, along with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, are reconstructing a crash after an Otsego woman struck a bridge support and then rolled off of Interstate 94 shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.
Tracy Lee Carlson, 40, of Otsego was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries at Hennepin County Medical Center as a result of the accident, which tied up rush hour traffic in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 at the Highway 241 intersection in St. Michael.
Witnesses said the 2017 Toyota Corolla veered off the road, struck the bridge support and rolled down an embankment. Fellow drivers leaped into action to help at the scene, and were soon joined by rescue crews from St. Michael and Albertville fire departments.
An air ambulance was used to transport Carlson. Interstate 94 re-opened about an hour after the crash.
