Wednesday morning’s commute into the Twin Cities turned tragic near Rogers after a semi truck and trailer crossed the median from westbound Interstate 94 onto eastbound 94, striking several vehicles. At least one person is dead and other victims of the accident have been airlifted, according to news reports and witnesses on the scene.
Minnesota State Patrol public information officer Tiffani Nelson said I-94 eastbound is now closed to all traffic. Vehicles are being routed off the freeway at Highway 241 in St. Michael and diverted from the area. MSP had initially closed the road at Highway 101 in Rogers, but backed up the closure due to the commute. Westbound 94 was closed, temporarily, but has since been re-opened. Traffic coming out of the Twin Cities is moving by the scene very slowly, about 15 MPH, according to reports.
A full report from the State Patrol is expected later today.
